Multiple Intelligences

The theory of multiple intelligences was developed in 1983 by Dr. Howard Gardner, professor of education at Harvard University. It suggests that the traditional notion of intelligence, based on I.Q. testing, is far too limited. Instead, Dr. Gardner proposes eight different intelligences to account for a broader range of human potential in children and adults.There are eight different intelligences and your child may show strengths and preferences in certain areas. By recognizing these different ways of learning, we can better meet the learning needs of all of our children.

All students want to frame their work in the best possible light and learn in the way that will "stick." Empowering students to learn through multiple intelligences helps to create a classroom where students are comfortable experimenting and letting others experiment.
There are many activities that address more than one of the multiple intelligences which is wonderful because most people have more than one area of strength.
