Feb. 7, 2012
Trip #5 tomorrow!

January 31, 2012
We are planning on skiing tomorrow - Wed. Feb 1 at our usual time.

January 26, 2012
We are still planning on skiing Monday Jan. 30.  We will leave the back of the school at 8:00 am and plan to be back by around 5:30 pm.  If the weather is good, we will also ski on Wed. Feb 1 at our regular time.

NOTE: If the weather on a ski day is not good and you are wondering if we are going or not, please check this site.  I will post any changes to our plans here.

January 8, 2012
Assuming the weather holds out, we are planning on skiing this week (Jan. 11) and next week (Jan. 18).  We will then take a one week break for exams.  After exams, we will have our DAY TRIP on MON. JAN. 30 (details about times to follow).  We will ski a 2nd time that week, going on Wed. Feb. 1 at our our usual time after school.

If the weather is bad on a Wed. and you are not sure if we are skiing, check here on the website.  I will update it if we are not going.  The general rule is that if school busses are cancelled, ski club is cancelled.

Remember to bring everything you need each time we ski:
  • your Wed. night ski pass (if you have picked it up already)
  • your passport or Nexus card
  • your ski helmet
If you don't have all of these, we will not let you on the bus.  So, double check before you leave home on Wed. morning.

One final reminder:  If you know ahead of time that you are not planning on coming on a particular week, please notify me (Mr. Koop) as soon as you can.  We have 4 people on our waiting list who would love to know ahead of time that they are coming!

December 19, 2011
We are going to wait until after the Christmas break to ski.  We will be having a brief meeting at the beginning of lunch on Wednesday, Dec. 21 to go over some safety information.  If you would like to have your pass to use over the break, make sure you come to this meeting.

December 7, 2011
I have cancelled the bus for Dec. 14.  Like Niagara, Holiday Valley still has no snow.  Our next possible date will be Dec. 21.  If however, we have no significant amout of snow before the holidays, we will go on January 11th.

November 17, 2011
I have tentatively booked a bus for Dec. 14.  If we should happen to get a good amount of snow between now and then, this will be our first time out.  If not, we will try again on the 21st.

October 11, 2011
Registration is tomorrow morning.  Make sure to have all of your forms fully completed.  See you bright and early.

September 28, 2011
Although it doesn't feel like winter just yet, we will be having our Ski and Snowboard registration in just a couple of weeks!  I have finalized the registration package and have posted all registration forms (including the Holiday Valley forms) on this website.  Please read the registration procedures carefully as they have changed from last year.  If you have any questions, please see me, Mr. Koop, in room 6.

REGISTRATION PROCEDURES
Our registration procedures for this year are significantly different than last year.  Read carefully!
  • Tuesday, October 4 and Wednesday October 5 we will have a 10 minute information meeting in Room 6 at the beginning of lunch.  This is not the time to register.  You only need to come to one of these meetings since we will cover the same information at each meeting.
  • Wednesday, October 12 at 7:00 in the MORNING we will have registration.  Registration will be on a first come, first served basis.  We can only take 50 students.  So if you really want to join, make sure you are at the front of the line.  You do not need to bring along your parents to this part of the registration.  When you come, you must have all forms properly completed as well as your cheque.  If you are missing information/signatures, you will be put at the bottom of the list.  Below is a list of what you will need:
  • the 2011-2012 A.N. Myer registration forms - make sure all information is complete and all forms are signed.  Please have a witness (friend of family/neighbour etc) sign as a witness on the final legal waiver form.
  • the Holiday Valley registration form - make sure both you and your parent sign the bottom of the form.  Please circle "Pick-a-Night Wednesday" for the type of pass.
  • Ski, Snowboard or Helmet registration forms (if you are renting from Holiday Valley) - NOTE: the forms say they are for 8 week rentals.  Since we are going only 6 times as a club, I have secured 6 week pricing.  Disregard the prices on these forms.  The 6 week prices are on the Myer registration forms.
  • Thursday, October 20: We will have a parents information meeting just before parent/teacher conferences.  The ski club meeting will start at 4:40 p.m. in room 6 with parent/teacher conferences in the gym starting at 5:00.  If for some reason your parent is not able to make it to this meeting, we will need to set up an alternate time to meet sometime during the following week.
We are looking forward to another year of great skiing and snowboarding!  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me, Mr. Koop.
