May is shaping up to be a very busy month. The Health Nurse will be visiting our class May 2nd, May 3rd, May 15th and May 17th. We also have track and field on May 4th. There is a long weekend thrown in there as well! Please take a look at the calendar as it has all the important dates on it.
Therapy Tails will be visiting our classroom for one period every Monday. Therapy Tails is a volunteer organization where dogs and their owners visit retirement homes, hospitals and classrooms for different purposes. The visit to our classroom is to help build reading confidence in our students. Children can read to the dog in a comfortable and relaxed environment. Reading with the dogs is purely voluntary and students will have the option to sit with our volunteer animals when they visit the class or continue to read on their own during our Daily 5 routines.
We have been diligently reviewing and practising for the upcoming EQAO test (end of May, beginning of June). I have seen a reall improvement in our students' writing and problem solving! In addition to this, we will be working with probability in math and procedural writing in language.
In Science, Mr. Burns has been teaching "Electricity". In Social Studies students have been studying Early Explorers.
